Joshua Beaman b. 8th of March 1769 in Lancaster, Worcester, MA. was
a son of Elijah and Thankful Nichols, lived in Lancaster, Massachusetts, until 1787 when he was called out by the government, to assist in quelling Shay's rebellion,
soon after which he moved to Chester, Vermont. He resided in Chester until about 1819, when he removed to Cheateaugay,
Franklin co., NY. and purchased a farm, where he died April 26th, 1829 at Burke, Franklin, NY. About
the year 1791 Joshua married Miss Hannah Olcott.
Joshua Beaman was the descendant of Gamaliel Beaman who settled in Dorchester, Massachusetts with
his parents when twelve years of age, in 1635 and then removed to Lancaster, MA in 1659.

Hannah Olcott the daughter of Timothy Olcott and Hannah Chandler. Born in Windsor
co., Vermont, in 1773 and died in Chateaugay, NY march 19th 1829.
According to the book listed below, Joshua and Hannah had eight children four boys and four girls all born in Grafton,
Vermont. The list of children I have found so far are as follows (with proven names marked in RED:

- Austin b. 3 Dec 1808 d. 12 Apr 1847
- Sophie b. 5 Feb 1811 d. 29 Mar 1880
- Fernando c. b. 28 Jan 1814 d. 27 Sep 1882
- Nancy b. 8 Jul 1816 d. 24 Mar 1852
